A Spectacular Evening in Elaine

Elaine, Arkansas, has suffered the fate of thousands of small American agricultural-based towns.  Farm technology advanced, replacing people with machines, processes, and potions.  For a few moments late in the evening of September 29, 2014, the town became a spectacular place to behold.  The mural you see on the side of the old building is a part of what the townspeople are doing to spiff up the place.  We will explore this story in coming editions.

Pine Buff, Arkansas

This week, there’s but one picture and very little story.  But after all, the title of this epistle is “Photo of the Week.”  The truth is, I returned to the computer after 9:30 p.m. from image-and-info gathering.  That’s a bit late to begin reviewing 1,100-plus images, so I settled on this one from the town of Elaine, Arkansas.  More to come next week.

But Wait!
There's more....
The trip touched on Helena, Arkansas,
so I did a snap of the most impressive structure thereabouts, to wit:
their bridge across the mighty Mississippi —
from an angle most do not see. Click and go to Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind.   There you'll find the bridge.
