Megan McGrew T O P I C : Smart and a 'Smartie'Megan Poses the Question. . . .September 12, 2007There is a student in one of my classes who has anger management issues. I have been told that last year he threatened a student with a knife. He has just recently been allowed back at school. He does all of his school work and does very well on tests and quizzes, so it seems he's quite smart. However, he does have some bad habits such as getting out of his seat constantly and talking out in class. How should you deal with disciplining a kid like this? Any suggestions? Sarah White answers. . . .October 13, 2007I don't know that I have any suggestions, but I will let you know that you are not alone. I have a student in one of my classes that is very passive aggressive. He is very bright and does well on all of his work, but if he misbehaves and I have to redirect him, he gets very angry and verbally lashes out at me. To be honest this kid scares me. He has such rage for the smallest things, but I won't show him my apprenhension. I just write a discipline report, and let him know that I will be calling his parents. The office gets a copy of the report so that they know what is going on.
