Quinn Bivens T O P I C : Making Fun of OthersQuinn Poses the Question. . . .September 13, 2007My question deals with something I encountered today while handing out tests. How do I get students not to make fun of others who receive poor scores? I have admonished against it and tried to keep the scores private, but the problem continues.... Julie Allard answers. . . .September 16, 2007Aside from the mandatory "respect other's privacy" lecture, I would fold the tests in half and staple them closed. If anyone needs to ask you a question concerning their grade, they could come to you privately. James Caldwell answers. . . .September 27, 2007I dont think there is any need to staple the test shut. Just be sure that you hand the test directly to the student in such a way that no one can see the grade. If the student chooses to share the grade and is then mocked, that's his/her perogative. Just make sure it is the student's choice to show their grade.
