Welcome to the New Semester.

Greetings, interns, and welcome to your Multicultural Issues class website.

Planet Gnosis is your point of contact for information regarding the Multicultural Issues course. It is also the publication site for your class performance assessments, including the Multicultural Logo, the Multicultural Alphabet: ABC Who Are We?, and the Class Profiles.

In this class, we will examine the broad definition of diversity as it relates to the public education classroom and the implications of teaching for success to students with diverse backgrounds. You will develop an understanding of the definition, framework, and implementation of multicultural education and its relationship to the social and political context of a multicultural society.

Three Essential Questions

By the end of the semester, you will be able to answer three essential questions:

What is the foundation of multicultural education?

How do class, ethnicity, race, gender, exceptionality, religion, language, and age impact multicultural education?

How do teachers initiate multicultural education in their own classrooms?

We will uncover the answers to the questions through several strategies: reading the chapters and articles related to multicultural issues, lectures, class discussions and activities, projects, and tests.

Come to class, be prepared, and do your work for a successful and engaging experience.
