Week Three
Assignments Are Due,
Bonus Points Offered.
Greetings, students, wherever you are — and welcome back to the classroom! Are you ready to labor? Now that the first holiday of the semester has quickly passed us by, we can take a deep breath and plunge into the tepid waters of late summer.
First of all, I'd like to remind you that your first "Post and Ponder" questions and responses are due on September 14. For this assignment, you will be given some guided direction. Since you are assessed using the Pathwise Classroom Observation System, your questions and responses will be directed toward that framework.
For example, last week we connected chapter one to Domain B. Chapter two also connects to Domain B. (The first person to e-mail me the correct criterion for chapter two will receive two bonus points! Send your answer to fbowles@uark.edu no later than Wednesday, midnight, 09-05-07.)
For your P & P assignment, relate your questions and responses to chapter two's topic, "Choosing Rules and Procedures." E-mail your Qs and Rs to fbowles@uark.edu and I will post them on the website. The first person to send me a question will get three bonus points!
Don't forget to bring your school's handbook to class on Monday. This is part of the activity for the day, so each student will need their own. Jessica and Lauren have already given me copies of the handbooks from their schools, so they deserve a round of applause for paying attention and taking action immediately.
Now that I think of it, Jessica and Lauren also deserve some bonus points for their rapid response. Congrats and kudos to them AND five bonus points for modeling "best practices."
Another reminder deals with the EDOK assignment due 9-17. Bring a copy of your article to class for me to keep. Post your EDOK on Chalk and Wire. I will adapt the rubric so that it conforms to the C & W requirements and grade your work through that system. You will find an example, explanation, and rubric in the Reading Room under Article Links.
Hope you are "managing" your week well. I look forward to seeing you in class next week, September 10.
