Skillful Classroom Management
Inspires Student Achievement.
August 28, 2012
Greetings, future teachers, and welcome to your Classroom Management web on Planet Gnosis.
You are beginning an intense and exciting journey of preparation for your teaching career. Each day in the classroom presents its rewards and challenges. No day is the same, and each class is different.
By developing the skills to be an effective "manager" of your classroom environment, you will impact student achievement by as much as 52 percentile points over a year's time (Marzano 2003). How is this accomplished? Marzano suggests that teachers have three major roles to play: 1) making wise choices about the most effective instructional strategies to employ; 2) designing classroom curriculum to facilitate student learning, and; 3) making effective use of classroom management techniques.
Your Classroom Management course will examine each of these roles and give you the opportunity to "grow and glow" on your journey to becoming a teacher professional.
Links to important documents and resources are listed on the left sidebar and at the bottom of this message.
All the best for a wonderful year as a scholar-practitioner.
