Welcome to
Your Class Website.
Remember, Your First Assignment
Is Due on Friday, Sept. 10
Welcome, teacher candidates, to the Planet Vox virtual learning community. You are exploring one of several learning sites devoted to sharing knowledge about a plethora of topics including Planet Gnosis (knowledge), Planet Clio (history), Planet Deutsch (German), Planet IEP (English as another language), and Planet Psi (astronomy and chemistry) in an effort to draw together through technology a unique community of curious, motivated life-long students and scholars.
This page will be our contact point throughout the semester. You can link to your syllabus and to the schedule on the left sidebar. The archive will allow you to consult all retired postings from the home page.
Let me begin with a reminder that your first major assignment is due on Friday, September 10, Reflection One. You have already received a hand-out with organizational and content guidelines. An example does not exist yet because you are creating the examples! I am looking for your ability to summarize information in a succinct and cogent manner. I am also interested in how you evaluate information and how you reflect on its usefulness to you as a student and future teacher. I would suggest that you visit the Multicultural Issues class website from the summer to read some examples of their writing.
On Wednesday, September 8, I will distribute an availability sheet to send to the Asbell and Kelly schools so that the principals can place you in a class. We have scheduled the Kelly visit for Monday, September 13. I hope to schedule the Asbell visit at the same time. The October 22 deadline for observations may be extended on an individual basis if necessary according to the available times for you and the classroom teachers.
Remember, my office is Peabody Hall 115 (basement level) and the phone number there is 575-2667. Visit or call anytime!
