Linux Links

    Linux general information websites

  • www.Linux.org For those of you who want to learn linux, or if you are just looking for a good website on the whole operating system... then this page is for you.

  • www.LinuxNewbie.org This is an excellent beginners site( I visit it all the time ). It has very useful "newbie help files" which I find a rather excellent resource.

  • www.LinuxPlanet.com A very professional Linux website. I positively give this site a 10. Informative yet warm... this site is a must see.

  • www.LinuxCentral.org A nice, well rounded linux website. I highly suggest this one.

    Window Managers / Desktop Environments

  • XFce is a user-friendly minimalistic window manager. XFce is my desktop of choice and I highly recomend it to any user, experienced or not.

  • Kde is a desktop environment for Linux. The interface resemboles windows in a lot of ways, but is open source.

  • www.gnome.org Gnome, like KDE, is a desktop environment for Linux. The interface also resemboles windows in some ways, but is a bit more original in appearance.

  • www.enlightenment.org E, or better known as Enlightenment, is another desktop environment for the Linux system. It has a very sci-fi feel to it and is very versitile when it comes to changing appearences.

  • WindowMaker attempts to emulate the look and feel of the NeXTSTEP GUI. WindowMaker is also another window manager I highly recommend.
