Planet Russkij serves the academic interests, classroom procedures, and pure curiosity of students enrolled in Russian 1310 and Russian 1320 at the University of Central Arkansas.
Russian 1310
In Russian 1310 students learn the rudimentary nuts and bolts of this most fascinating language. The focus is on mastering the alphabet and pronunciation, while developing at a low level the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Russian 1320
In Russian 1320 students continue to work on basic skills, but at a higher level that enables them to acquire an improved quality of language that is very authentic. Students continue to master the alphabet and pronunciation as they develop an overall language competency that is rounded out and improved thorugh the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Planet Russkij
Planet Russkij provides dynamic access to a semester syllabus, weekly syllabus, reminders of major assignments and tests, as well as Russian jokes, proverbs, and tongue twisters. In addition, students will be able to read thought-provoking articles on famous Russian figures and earn extra points by answering questions about the articles.
The site also can be a great source of information for visitors who are interested in learning more about Russian language and culture. Planet Russkij not only serves the language and linguistic interests of its visitors, but also endeavors to showcase articles and other writings about Russian history, culture, literature, and places to visit. The site is designed to be an eclectic source of information about Russia and the Russian Language.
In addition to the teacher's input, students are encouraged to submit material for publication on the website.

Planet Russkij is ruled by Dr. Todd Alden Marshall, professor of Russian and Slavic Linguistics at the University of Central Arkansas. An independent entity in the CornDancer consortium of planets, Planet Russkij is dedicated to the study and exploration of the Russian language, culture, and society. CornDancer is a developmental website for the mind and spirit maintained by webmistress Freddie A. Bowles of the Planet Earth. Submissions are invited.
