Threaded Discussion Guidelines
Mrs. Bowles will distribute an article in class. Students will read the article in groups of four. Each group member will consider four key points: a timeline of significant dates; a list and short identification of the main players; a word list of interesting vocabulary; and, of course, the main points of the article.
Each group member will sit quietly and read the article. After the reading is completed, students will discuss the key points listed above and take notes. These notes will be your guides for composing a short essay about the article to post on the threaded discussion webpage.
At the end of the activity, Mrs. Bowles will offer her analysis of the article for your consideration. We will also discuss our responses. Your mini-essays will be posted on Planet Gnosis as they arrive via E-mail. Students have until Thursday evening at 11 p.m. to post at least one response to the website.
Note to high-achievers and scholars in pursuit of excellence: You are encouraged to send an additional response after the first round of ideas and comments are posted to the discussion thread. Analyze and critique. Expand and reflect. You can send these follow-up posts after the Thursday deadline. A second or third post is not required.... but enthusiastically encouraged.
Students will send their responses via E-mail to tulipan@corndancer.com
