Vocabulaire
What's in a word? Vocabulary is the building block of sentences and thought. This section is devoted to helping students look at words as life forms, each with their own history and ancestral origin.
Words tell us so much about history and culture — and the transformation of both. You will be amazed at how much one word can reveal! The words chosen for this section will be either French words used in English and French (even though they may be used differently), or words used only in French that are jam-packed with information about culture.
Click on either Le mot juste or L'histoire parle beside the crimson petunia (look up!) to enter a lively realm containing just the right word.
